the iCal on my MacBook does not duplicate events, but when I sync to iPhone (both 5 and 6) the events are duplicated and triplicated with different times.

SOMETIMES the event in iPhone is the same date and time as in iCal on the computer, but most of the time it lists the event at several different times, with no way to tell what the original was.

I am NOT using iCloud to sync; just the cable using iTunes. Perhaps iTunes is the problem?
