I can't believe I'm paying for such a crap experience! The turning iTunes match on/off thing must have been a fluke. I am now down to under 2,000 tracks, but I'm losing patience. I can basically upload about 150 tracks per day. I tried deleting all of the error and ineligible tracks in my library, but that didn't really change anything.
This weekend I'm going to try re-encoding some of the remaining tracks in the hopes that they will be recognized by the matching algorithm. I will also experiment with resetting my router to see if there is some issue there. I didn't realize I was going to be a Beta tester for this service! A bit of a warning would have been nice Apple!

Not sure if this is just lucky, but I was getting a message telling me it couldn't connect to teh iTunes Store, and timimg out. So I reset the Store Cache from within iTunes preferences and it just matched up without a hitch.

I've had the same problem and it's very frustrating. I have however narrowed it down the the Genius part getting stuck. What I have found that works for me is if i alter the library (by adding a couple of new tracks into it), this seems to wake up and gets things going again.

Same deal here. While stuck in this state, iTunes sees my kids iPod but doesn't see my phone or my wife's phone! I find I have to reboot my PC just to get iTunes to stop attempting to send information to iTunes Match. At that point, it finally "sees" the devices. Also, iTunes seems to forgot all about the songs that were played during the time it was messed up.

Since 3 days I'm struggeling now with this situation. I've tried already all workarounds from this thread, but none of them makes me happy. Deauthorizing, turning iTunes Match off/on.....nothing worked.
Actually I have 12 songs with the cloud status "waiting". So I tried to delete then, so that there are no new songs to be uploaded. Even then no result......

I haven't been able to connect for almost 24 hours now.
No solutions have worked so far.

I'm sure this is just an issue with server load. Mine just updated suddenly, but then went back to freezing as before. I don't think any of the workarounds actually do anything. People just mess around and occasionally get lucky and get a connection and think the workaround was the cause, when it was more likely just a coincidence.

I think you're right, there's no "fix" that users can apply, Apple just have to get their servers working.
(I turned ITM off and on again and the only difference it made is that my entire library now has a match status of "Waiting")

I called the expresslane now. First he told me all the things I did already.
Then he came up with the idea to delete the file "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" in the iTunes-folder; restart the MAC; open iTunes.......same result! After 20 minutes iTunes showed error 4002....

I've found that iTunes Match seems work better in the evenings (UK).....

Maybe it does work better at certain times, but a premium service should work well 24/7.

Apple could also be updating their servers for the new iTunes.

Don't really care what they're doing, the service should 'just work'. This isn't the first time recently this has happened. I suspect some people don't even notice there's a problem, unless they just added some music and notice it doesn't replicate on all devices. Apple just hope the problem will go away and claim all services are working as normal.
