Q: Doesn't disabling Java cause problems with some websites?

I just read up on possible problems with Flashback malware.

One suggestion to protect my Mac is to disable Java in Safari preferences - just wondering what possible problems this might cause when online.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Very few web sites use Java, so you should disable Jave. If a web site (that you trust) needs Java it will ask for it.

Javascript is something completely different and should be left active.

BTW you show as running Tiger 10.4.11 - is that correct? This is the Leopard forum.

    Thanks.

A site I play a lot of games on didn't work at all today, until I turned Java back on ... which it never asked me to do. So I guess I'll have to turn it on and off in this case.

Sorry about the OS mixup, I'm on Leopard: 10.5.8
