logic express 9 freezes when bouncing midi region to audio

I have done this MANY times before and now it's not working. When I import a mnidi track from ultrabeat to the arrange windaow, I select the region, and click bounce in place. The play head goes all the way across the region and continues to the end of the possible song length until the program simply freezes and I have to restart LE9. I have tried this multiple times. I have downloaded ALL the latest software uodates and it still does it. Can ANYONE help??????
