hey guys, just purchased the new ipad and trying to sync my iphone4S, have used icloud to do this, but missing from the content on the ipad are the messages and photos and cannot seem to transfer them from my iphone...any suggestions?...be good to hear from you, cheers...robbo
iPad
Sync the iPad to the same computer that you use to sync the iPhone. Be sure to configure the sync characteristics the way that you wish.
When you set up your iPad, did you choose restore from iPhone backup?
If you did and the notes, etc., didn't come over, you can connect your iPad to your computer and sync them over via iTunes sync. You should connect your iPad to iTunes to have that option anyway.

I did choose the option of iphone back up and the only things that did not transfer were the messages and photos.
I plugged into the computor and tried to sync with itunes but then this operation refused to start, i thought perhaps because i was using icloud?...unplugged and tried again with same response.
Just now checking the phone settings and ipad settings.

Once your new iPad is recognized on the left side of the iTunces screen click the device once to open it in iTunes. Then choose Information, Photos, Music, etc., to sync what you want over to your iPad. For each tab you choose, once you've checked what you want to put on your iPad, click Apply and then Sync on the lower right hand side of the screen.
hi again, done exactly as suggested and still nothing transferred to my ipad....maybe it only applies to NEW messages and photos?

I just got it. The Messages App on iPhone is not exactly the same as iMessage on iPad. You can configure iMessage on iPad to receive new messages at the same time as your iPhone, but your messages won't move over. Sorry for not realizing that's what you were referring to.
Are the pictures on your iPhone also on your computer? You can transfer any pictures that are on your computer from just about any directory you store pictures to your iPad, but you do have to choose where they are in order to sync them.

Yes you are right ,the messages on my iphone are a different app,but have configured the ipad to receive any NEW messages via icloud.
I am now downloading the pics to ipad via computor and its working!
