Mar 7, 2013 7:50 AM in response to MGreer51by 1Wilbur1,No resolution from Apple. They refuse to admit it is a hardware problem. Fortunately Verizon had open enrollment in service plan. Can get new phone through them.
No wonder Apple is losing market share.

Mar 7, 2013 8:40 PM in response to 1Wilbur1by davidmintzer,Just got my new Iphone5 today--unware that there were these persistent Wi-Fi problems. Tomorrow I go back to the AAT store and I will give them one more shot with Wi-Fi---if it doesn't work, I'm going to get myself a Samsung and will end my relationship with Apple.

Mar 8, 2013 2:00 AM in response to davidmintzerby C-Daddy,My first iPhone 5 had the issue also. I made a Genius Bar appointment and they gladly gave me a new one. I even restored my phone inside the Short Hills NJ Apple store over their wifi. I walked out of the store happy.
I wouldn't give up on the greatest handheld device so quickly. The support from this community alone is reason enough to stay with Apple. Good luck.

Mar 14, 2013 1:47 PM in response to Tech Singhby 1Wilbur1,Guess I did not make it clear that Apple store (2 different ones) admit it is a hardware issue but because the phone was 1 year and 2 weeks old THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE IT! Others out there have the same hardware issue so it is not just one phone.
Very poor customer service from Apple.

Mar 18, 2013 8:17 AM in response to swang1975by BeckyG86,We have 2 iphone 4s and both won't connect to the wifi anymore. It would be an amazing coincidence if they both had their wireless hardware go down simultaneously. Our iPad started having the same problem about 15 minutes ago, when apple sent a new software update. Since my iMac still works, I'm pretty sure it's the new software. Don't let them tell you it's a hardware problem.

Mar 25, 2013 6:42 AM in response to swang1975by alejo839,The problem of wifi disable in the iphone 4s is by the software, by the update. After to do all the recomendations that are in internet (you tube, forum in Apple, seekers, etc) and none worked, they changed the hardware, wifi antenna and did not work. Because Apple has not released a statement about this big problem. Because it takes an update for resolved this problem. I'm a lover of all the Apple, but with this little support and warranty, we will review other brands the tecnology.

Mar 27, 2013 11:52 AM in response to swang1975by DJinAC,I am having the same wifi issue with my 4 All the devices in the house connect up fine but the 4 doesn't and we've done all those fixes listed in the forums-we bought a new modem and the router had to be reconfigured and renamed so my wife called apple today and spent an hour ....their fix: turn off cellular while home and on when out the phone is supposedly looking for the strongest signal and the cellular is more powerful than the wifi she also has to keep entering the password every time she turns the wifi on because of security (the upgrade to ios 6.1.3) for the wifi the phone doesn't have any way to store the password except in notes so she can continue to use it when joining. It's inconvenient but.......there's really no choice except for getting a new phone ......welcome to Apple :-)

Apr 1, 2013 9:17 AM in response to JamesPaulMallonby 1Wilbur1,Read my lips - it was a hardware problem! Apple store could not resolve their genius did all of the things suggested by all who responded.
Thanks to all for your responses....it was Apple hardware - had to get a new phone and pay. Poor customer service.

Apr 18, 2013 1:33 AM in response to swang1975by wwwilder,If after restoring phone the wifi is still greyed out and Bluetooth doesn't work, you can be pretty sure it is a hardware problem. If the phone is still under warranty, take it to Genius Bar and you will get a new phone.
