mac.com versus me.com showing in account detail

I just installed iCloud, I originally had an mac.com account but have used mostly my me.com account associated with my apple id. When I look in system preferences in account detail it shows my mac.com address. How do I change this OR do I need to? I am concerned this might affect my itunes, iphoto and iphone syncs. I had problems early on when the me.com replaced the mac.com.

Are things only now really tied to our apple id? I now only use my me.com account, the mac.com I consider a legacy account and try to not use.

The me and mac addresses relate to the same Apple ID (account) you can use either address for email or to log into your account.

Thanks,...I did run into trouble with my itunes and apps due to the mac.com and me.com addresses NOT being held separate. This is why I asked the icloud question....
