Jun 1, 2012 7:28 AM in response to roo22by captfred,★HelpfulYes, you can use the 85W adapter with your MBair. It's ok to use an adapter of a higher wattage, just don't use one of a lower wattage. ie don't use the MBair charger with the MBpro. Here's the apple article.

Jun 1, 2012 7:34 AM in response to captfredby roo22,Thanks for your prompt response. I came across the page you linked earlier, and found this:
"Note: Adapters that shipped with the MacBook Air (Original), MacBook Air (Late 2008), and MacBook Air (Mid 2009) are not recommended for use with MacBook Air (Late 2010) models. When possible, use your computer's original adapter or a newer adapter."
Just out of curiosity, if the earlier 45W Macbook Air chargers are not recommended for use with the latest version, then why is it safe to use the 85W charger from 2006?

Jun 1, 2012 7:45 AM in response to roo22by captfred,I think it was more to do with the premature fraying of the cord where it enters the L connector. Notice the additional support on later models.
I don't think there's any difference in the actual power supplied. I have both the original 2008 and latest 2011 and use the adapters interchangeably with no issues.
