I need to know if OSX lion is worth the download and if i were to download and install, would it wipe everything from my MacBook as ive downloaded a lot of music and installed a lot of software and created a lot of documents

no it will not, BUT your PPC Applications will no longer work under the Lion OS. which stinks...real bad. So figure out how many of your applications you have are PPC based and decide whether it makes sense for you to update

It won't wipe any of your data -- unless something goes wrong, which is why you need to back up before you install. You need to back up whether you install Lion or not.
by PPC applications do you mean applications like office for mac or do you mean applications that i already downloaded and installed that arent made by apple?
any application that is not universal is a PPC application and will not work. Here is a great way to go through your apps and see if you will have a hard time:

Also, If you are knowledgeable with computers you also could dual boot your computer with snow leopard and Lion.
but only do this if you really need it IMO. The other choice is that you could always get the windows version of an Application that you need and run it in parallels if you have it. But check if your applications are good to be used in Lion first, and then we can go from there.
if i downloaded and updated to lion from snow leopard would it erase all my software, music and downloads?
