need help

so today i was walking home from school in the rain listening to my ipod touch, when i got home i checked the time and everything was normal... and then out of no where i can't see anything on the screen it has all faded away... i can see it briefly in the light but can't see anything well enough to use... what is wrong with it? and i know it seill works and everything.
