Q: What is the best way to restore a Time Capsule from an Archive disk?

I've done an archive of my Time Capsule and am going to store it off-site with my parents. What I'd like to know is, if my Time Capsule disk gets corrupt or needs reformatting, how can I restore its data from the Archive disk? Can I simply copy its files back onto the Time Capsule disk manually? And if so, will Time Machine recognise the sparseimages?

I think you would just keep archive as that.. if the TC was wiped then it is able start TM backup anew.. that is better and quicker than restoring a TC backup from the archive and then using TM to update it.. that would take forever. But yes, you should be able to connect the usb drive to a computer and copy the sparse bundle to the TC..

I would rather not have to start TC from fresh if I could possibly restore the sparse bundles from an archive... After all, if I did that, I'd lose my entire history of backups which is one of the benefits of having TM backups.

    But thanks for the information.
