Multiple user's on an iPad

So we have jumped in feet first are a MAC FAMILY! We have a desktop and I love that you can set up multiple user's on it.

Is this something that can be done on the iPad as well?

Not really. However, in some individual, third-party apps you can use, among other things, a(n, if you want so,) severely restricted Guest mode. (Or possibly even complete, parallel user management.)

An example of these apps is iCab Mobile. If "just" two users are sufficient for your needs in an otherwise excellent Web browser, I heavily recommend its Guest mode. There's a tutorial explaining how the Guest mode needs to be set up at http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/how-you-can-disable-browsing-any-non-company-n on-children-etc-website-your-idevice

I think this is disappointing. The iPad is a 'coffee table' device, and as such should really have the ability to allow anyone you wish to interact with it. I'd like it to be there so that either I, my partner, or a guest can pick it up and access anything they wish but without having access to all of my personal accounts etc.

Not that I have any, but a 'single user device' just doesn't work when you wish to allow children to use the device either. Families may wish to introduce their children to this technology but don't want their children accidentally adjusting important settings, sending emails, or posting on Facebook...

It's very much a feature that would very much like to see and I think a feature that would be valued by many users.
