printing wirelessly

I have a MacBook Pro with 10.7.4 installed and connected wirelessly to the net via an Airprt Extreme. Our printer is an HP 8500 A plus. The printer is connected by USB cable to my wife's PC. I have been unable to get the printer to reconnize the Airport without removing the cable from the PC and plugging it into the Airport. Since the printer is presumably wireless should I not be able to connect to the printer wirelessly through the Airport?

If the HP8500 A plus is a wireless printer, then yes you should be able to connect it via wireless to the Airport Extreme rather than having to use USB cable.

If the printer does not have built in wireless and you are referring to when you have it connected via USB to the Airport Exteme USB port, then you should also be able to add this printer to your Mac (and PC). When you do connect it to the USB port of the Extreme, if you open System Preferences > Print & Scan on the Mac and select to add by clicking the plus button, with the Default Add Printer view selected, the HP should be in this view with the Kind column showing Bonjour. Do you see this?
