I can't find Air Play on my Ipad 2. I have installed AppleTV and have access to all my libraries, but can't make the TV set to pick up my Ipad screen...when I look for the Air Play icon on the Ipad I don't see it anywhere. When I go into "Computers" on Apple TV, it doesn't show me my Ipad, inspite of the fact that both are connected to the same network...any suggestions?

When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPhone 4s, double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.
Thank you for your reply, but I had done that before I sent my question. For some reason, the AirPlay icon is not on my Ipad. I browse through all the applications in that bottom row, and it's not there. Can it be possible that it is hidden? Could it not be installed?
It should be between the fast forward button and the volume adjustment when you swipe the application panel to the right.

As soon as the application panel at the bottom opens up, this is what I see (in order from left to right): orientation locking icon, brightness control, rewind button, play button, forward button, volume control, and immediately, Music icon, safari icon, and the rest...what I am missing here?
I don't think you are missing anything, it sounds as though it is not there. Have you tried restarting the iPad, the Apple TV and your router. Also check that you have not turned AirPlay off on the Apple TV itself.
I have turned everything off, except the router, which I will proceed to do. But I suspect this is not the reason. Any last suggestions for when the "restarting strategy" leaves me in the same spot? Many thanks for your time...
A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.
Make sure your router/computer allows access over the following ports

Refer to your router manual/manufacturer for any settings that are specific to that model.
Another frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is security software, in many cases configuring it correctly, disabling it or even uninstalling it can help, but in some cases the security software can cause problems that simply reconfiguring, disabling or uninstalling cannot reverse.
If you are consistently unable to activate AirPlay, have tried all the steps in this article and have security software installed on your system, you might benefit from contacting its provider or participating in any online forums they run to discuss the matter with them.
