Whic version of IMovie do I need to learn on?

I am looking to buy a used IMac, aluminum body with Intel, which I believe is 08 or newer. They are far cheaper than a brand new one. I am primarily interested in learning how to make and edit movies for YouTube and was wondering, considering my budget, if the 2008 version is as up to date as I need. Will I be wasting my time learning on a version that old?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Try to get at least iMovie 09. It has a lot of features that iMovie 08 was missing. If you can get a Mac that runs Snow Leopard or Lion, go ahead and get iMovie 11. iMovie 09 should run on just about any iMac that will run iMovie 08.
