My ISP is switching mail service from POP to IMAP, how do I make this switch on my iPad? I don't see a way in Settings to change the type of account without deleting my mail account, which will lose all of the mail I currently have on my iPad.

Do you not have a computer with your email?
Contact your ISP and see if they will retain the current mail you have on their server, then delete the account and re-add it.
The problem isn't with the mail that is currently on the server, it's the mail that is on the iPad, but not on the server. I have been using my iPad more for mail than I do my Mac, so I have a lot of mail that exists only on the iPad.
Forward them to your Mac.
Then I lose the "reply to" ability.
From what I am gathering, there is no way to switch account types as there is on the Mac.
Not that I am aware of. Have you already converted on your Mac?
No, I have until the end of June, when everything will be cut over. Problem is, I have emails from groups that are over 4 months old.
Backing up your iPad will back up your mail to your computer.
I would also be sure to back up your mail on your computer to an external device before changing your settngs.
I don't have a POP mail account on my iPhone but have you tried:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > (your pop account) > Account > Mail (under Advanced heading) then servers?
If I back the iPad up, there is no way to access the mail on my Mac, you only access the entire backup, so far as I am aware.
The server can be changed, but not the type of account.
Wasn't suggesting that you try to access the mail on your Mac, was suggesting that you back up just before deleting your email account, enter the new account after deleting the old one the Restore your iPad from backup which will put all of your emails back on your iPad.
Changing the server to the new IMAP server may accomplish what you want to do but again, back up before trying this.
It's not a new server, they remain the same.
If I restore, won't it restore my email account settings as well?
It will be a different type of server (IMAP) rather than a POP server. For instance mine is imap.mail.me.com. If they are not changing this then they are not moving to IMAP.
No, that should not restore your settings.
Thanks. I will have to talk to them, they say the server addresses are not changing, just being switched.
