One of my photographs was edited with Adobe Photoshop and saved as an .psd file.
But I can't locate this file anywhere on my mac? Is there a default path where the psd files are saved?

when you open an image in Adobe Photoshop, then by default the edited version will be saved in the same folder as the imported original image. You can select a different location when you are saving (as) or exporting the image in th file choser dialogue.
The easiest way to quickly find your saved image would be to launch Photoshop again and to use the main menu bar:
File > Open recent
Your recently saved image should appear at the top of the list of recent imaged.
If you cannot find it there, search for it with Spotlight, if you remember a part of the filename.
How did you open the image in question in the first place? If you used Photoshop as external editor, then Photoshop will probably have stored the edited PSD-file inside the Aperture Library Package, and you will not see it in the Finder, but Aperture will. It may look funny, however, in Aperture, for Aperture cannot display the layers.

The funny thing is that its not there. I can indeed open it via photoshop as a recent file.
But when I serach with spotlight it does not appear in any of my discs.
I imported the image in Aperture and send it to: (CRTL click) edit with.... in this case CS4.
I guess its the last part you are talking about.
Just have to make sure I save it in the desired folder and check if its really there.

Spotlight should also show you images inside the Aperture library package (depending on your Spotlight settings), but you will not see them when browsing in the Finder; they are hidden inside the package in the "Masters" folder.
I imported the image in Aperture and send it to: (CRTL click) edit with.... in this case CS4.
And to use the edited image inside Aperture, simply save it from Photoshop, without specifying a folder. This will update the quasimaster inside the library.
If you want a backup copy of your edited version, make an additional "Save as" to a folder outside the library.

I have the same issue/question. I opened a image in PS CS6 as a plugin thru Aperture. Then saved it with a differ name and it saved it in the Aperture library under Masters 2013, 7, 28. But when I go back into Aperture I can not see this image under that name. So I have several images like that that I can not view in Aperture.
Don't use "Save As". Just close the file in PS and save your changes when prompted. The externally edited Image should show in Aperture as a new Image with a Badge indicating that it has been edited externally.
"Save As" creates a _second_ new file. Aperture will not record or track this file.
