Panic report,10.7.4

I have been having the same issue. Ever since I updated to 10.7.4 my usb ports stop working randomly and I get constant kernal panic similar to what you posted. I am assuming they're related because the last unloaded kext was com.apple.driver.AppleUSBUHCI which appears to me to having something to do with usb ports but I may be wrong. Your usb ports may stop working randomly as well but may not notice it because you probably use the bluetooth keyboard where as I use the wired usb keyboard.

I have also been having an issue with the monitor randomly displaying multiple colored lines accross the entire screen. It started after I updated to 10.7.4 as well. If I sleep the computer and wake the mac they go away.

I'm using the 27" 2010 iMac.

I ran full hardware diagnostics and everything passes including everything on the logic board and graphics card.

Anyone have any solutions or been experiencing either of these issues?

Kernel panics are most often caused by either a hardware issue or a bad third-party kernel extension (kext), though a corrupt system can also cause them.

I have parallels installed and am not having kernel panics in 10.7.4, so that's probably not it. But I would remove the Trend Micro anti-virus software. Uninstall it using whatever uninstaller is provided by that software.

Justin, you are having a very different problem. You don't have any third-party kexts installed. I would recommend that you try running Apple Hardware Test, and if that doesn't come up with anything, start a new topic to discuss your issue rather than hijacking someone else's. I'm sure you're not aware of it, but that's considered poor form.

I too have been having kernel panics since upgrading to 10.7.4, but I believed mine were linked to using Adobe Premiere CS5.5. However several did occur randomly. I have managed to fix it (I use fix loosely) by reverting to a time machine backup from when mac was a lowly 10.7.3, since then I have had no problems using Adobe, but did have a single kernel panic which was somehow linked to me backing up my mac. If you can restore a backup it's not a perfect solution, but until 10.7.5, might be worth a shot, it's worked for me (kinda). Hope this rambly post is of some use!

As I said earlier, you have to use the uninstaller. Just deleting the application is not adequate.

Apple is acutely aware that many MacBook users are experiencing multiple kernel panics after installing the 10.7.4 update and I can assure you that they are working on it.

This is an Apple software problem so messing around with your apps and configuration to alleviate the problem is not the answer.

Reinstalling 10.7.3 until Apple releases a fix is what works if you are experiencing ongoing problems.

Nonsense. First, you cannot make any statements about what Apple is aware of or what they are working on. If an Apple tech told you something along these lines, it would apply only to the problem you were discussing with them, not all kernel panics. And they may be completely wrong... There have been plenty of cases of first-tier Apple Support people saying things that were not remotely true.

Second, advising a user having kernel panics to do nothing but wait for a fix from Apple is irresponsible at best. Most kernel panics are NOT caused by bugs in the system, and there is absolutely no evidence that I have seen to suggest that that is the case with this one.

One of the things that irks me about this forum is the institutional arrogance of the thankfully few self-appointed Mac divas who adopt a needlessly supercilious attitude towards those with whom they disagree.

I own a Mac-based company which has been using Apple products for over 25 years. My company works almost exclusively in the IT industry.

I do not claim to be a tech weenie however, Apple contacted me when the kernel panic issues around 10.7.4 surfaced and asked if I would work with them - from a commercial user's perspective - to help isolate the real problems caused by this update.

Because you are not experiencing issues does not mean that thousands of other Mac users (including my colleagues) are that fortunate and I find your condescending, lecturing response to this and other posts to be unhelpful and unnecessary. It also discourages Apple newbies - the ones who most need assistance - from participating here and is not indicative of the Apple community I know.

With your kind permission, I will continue to work with Apple to resolve the problem.
