Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the photo in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.

Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced - and then re-syncing.

Ok, what do i do when there is no Trash can, no delete. on my iPad3

How did the photos get onto the iPad ? If you synced them from your computer then you need to de-select them and re-sync.

I took the photo's with my iPad

When you select a photo in the Camera Roll, do you not see a trash can icon? On the same note, you can select multiple photos by tapping on the icon that looks like a rectangle with a right-pointing arrow through it. You can then select as many photos as you wish and tap the red Delete button which should be enabled after select one or more photos.

1. Tap square with arrow on top right

2. Select pictures to delete

3. Tap delete

Are you in the iPhoto app and not Photos ?

yes, iPhoto app

You will need to go into the Photos app and you can then delete them from there - that deletion should then be reflected in the iPhoto app when you go back into it.

One thing that i found to work was to go through iTunes to the photos tab in the iPad settings, and sync photos to a new folder on your hard drive with nothing in it. This sorted it for me.
