How can you prevent Pages from opening previous documents?

Whenever I launch Pages or Numbers it opens the last document worked on instead of a blank template. This is not a function of Lion, so please don't suggest to change Lion settings it does not work. Somehow there is a way for just a blank page to come up in Pages as would happen in Word. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.
