Downloads folder wants to open in terminal
I can't open my downloads folder. It shows in Finder as a folder. When I click on it, terminal opens. That makes retrieving something from the folder quite tedius. Any fixes?

Hi Rob, this is a really strange one!?
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, see if you can open the Downloads folder in Safe Mode, reboot when complete, & test.
Just came across this online, and it fix it on my Mac mini. Paste this into the teminal, and hit enter
xattr -c ~/Downloads
Then try opening your downloads folder.
Thanks Foto Snapper, this fixed it on my Mac mini also!
Thanks Foto, also fixed on my mac book pro.
worked for me too! thanks!
Thanks Foto Snapper . This fix worked like a charm on Macbook Pro !
Just wanted to say I experienced a similar problem here in 2016. Terminal opened on a download from Sonimus, but I was still able to get into my downloads folder on the dock.
I simply closed terminal.
I will certainly be back if there are any complications!
