How do I prevent certain apps that I've downloaded from my iPhone from syncing to my iPad?

So everytime I sync my iPad to my computer, I am having an issue where apps I've downloaded on my iPhone sync to my iPad. There are certain apps that I only want on my iPhone and also only certain apps I want on my iPad. For instance, I want Square Register on my iPad, but I do not want Square on it. The difference being Square is simpler iPhone version whereas Square Register is the fully-functioning iPad version. I dislike having to delete these apps everytime I sync up (I don't like clutter).

Can anyone advise me on how to control which apps sync to my different devices? Thanks!

Configure your sync settings to only sync what you want to sync to each device.

Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes.

Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.

Click on the Apps Tab on the right.

Click on only the apps that you want to sync to that device

Click on the Sync Apps Heading - make sure it is selected

Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
