My screen looks bigger than my display, I cant´see everything at once. How can I fix it?

I have a Macbook pro 2010, Lion OS. It has been working good until I conected the computer to a TV. I´m conecting my computer, frecuently, to some televisions. The last time I did that the configuration of my screen changed a little bit. The screen looks bigger than my display and I can´t see the hole screen at the same time, I have to move the arrow with the trackpad in order to see some corner of the computer. I tried to fixed going to the display preferences, but I don´t know how to do it. Does any body know how to fix it up?

Can you explain your problem simply? I don't undertsand the part where you say...

Are you saying that the physical screen on your MacBook Pro is larger than the image that is displayed upon it? Have you checked your preferences in System Preferences>Displays?

I'm kind of at a loss understanding your message. You need to be more clear about your problems and what you have done to try to fix the problem thus far.

Sounds like you have the resolution set higher than your TV can display. Your MBP will display 1440x900 native for a 15 inch model. If your TV is only able to display 1366x768 then you'll get exactly what you're seeing.

Change the MBP resolution to a lower setting. Or use the Detect displays option.

Either that, or you have the zoom setting enabled. Go to Accessibility and check...

Well, I mean that the image that my computer shows in the display is too big and doesn´t fit on the screen. I can´t see the hole image. If I want to see something on the top, I have to go up on the image moving my screen to the higher part of the image. It is like when you open a picture which is too big or you have the zoom focused in some section of the picture, you can´t see the hole picture until you move your cursor up or down with your trackpad.

I tried to fixed this problem changing the resolution of my display, but I didn't work.

Are you running in mirrored display mode? If so the resolution used is the smallest of the mirrored set.

If you are not running mirrored, and set the TV to it's proper resolution (720p, 1080i, 1080p) then what you are seeing is called overscan (underscan is just the opposite in that the picture does not fill the screen). The Displays preference for the TV may have a Underscan slider slider to adjust the image. Your TV probably has something in it's menus as well although they probably won't refer to it as underscan/overscan. You will have to look at the TV's screen menu(s) or check its manual.

What make and model TV are you trying to connect to?
