I got my iphone 4s stolen, so I suspended my service with AT&T, but I am still trying to find it,will that affect find my iphone?

My iphone was stolen June 1st, I was advice to suspend my service with AT&T meanwhile but I am still trying to locate it using find my iphone. I checked icloud June 3rd trying to see if i can locate it again but it says it is offline. Suspending my service with AT&T wasn't a good idea? Does it affect Find my iphone?
