What is the purpose of using iPhone???

Recently I was facing hard time with my iPhone 3gs, the phone shutdown abruptly even battery indication is 50%, and also battery drains quickly.

Actually all problems started after I upgrade to IOS 5 (not sure how this is related let’s talk this later)

When contacted Apple support & retails, both of them pointing to the service provided, (Let’s talk this later)

I see lot of posting in Apple forum about battery management, plenty of suggestions how to handle battery effectively includes

Disable location services, Notification services, Disable this/that service that uses 3G, Switch off 3g service when not using email, bla bla bla….

I wonder what the purpose I’m using this iPhone???? , If I disable all the 3g features??? Then I should have got an old style basic mobile.

Those are just a variety of optional suggestions for maximising battery life. They are not requirements to use the phone.

I do none of them, and have no issues. Battery life does tend to decrease naturally as the battery ages. That's what batteries do.

If you need 3G access clearly the suggestion to turn it off is not relevant to you. For those people who use WiFi, turning off 3G is a valid suggestion. Only turn off the things you don't need.
