Jun 4, 2012 3:06 PM in response to gdgmacguyby mburney,The top row of letters/numbers will not respond on the touchscreen. The areas above and below them work fine. Can this be fixed? I have tried every troubleshooting tip I could find. They all consisted of powering off and and restarting/rebooting the phone using different methods of using the home button, power button and waiting 10-30 seconds. All the tips varied. I tried approximently 6 different ones and tried each of them more than once. Out of desperation, I even performed a complete system restore. Nothing worked. Is there a different solution you could suggest? Is this a common problem? What would cause this to happen?

Jun 4, 2012 6:00 PM in response to mburneyby gdgmacguy,If restoring your phone as a new device (NOT from backup) has failed to solve the problem, then you likely are experiencing a hardware malfunction. You'll need to bring your phone into Apple for replacement. It will cost $199 for an iPhone 4S, $149 for all other iPhones if you're not within the warranty period.
