Q: Apple Hardware Test

will I lose any information on my computer if i run the Hardware Test?

I did run the Apple Hardware test. Everything seens ok, but it did not solved my problem. I still have 6 colored lines on my screen. Thanks Kappy.

The AHT doesn't fix anything. It merely checks specific hardware in the computer to be sure there isn't a problem.

Did you have these lines on your screen while running the AHT? If you boot from your OS X installer DVD do you still get lines on the screen?
