Restore Disk For iBook g4 (2004) and iMac g5 (2004) and help on buying a computer.

Without the restore disk or a copy of Mac OS X you can't really restore it. Maybe you know someone that has some restore disk you could use? If all fails you could just create a new account and delete your old account, effectively restoring it to a clean account for resale. I can't really comment on the price. It depends on what iBook, iMac model your selling and it's condition. Good luck

You could check on eBay to see what your Mac models are selling for by checking out "Completed Items" for each of them.

Tip for future reference: I never buy a used Mac unless the original system discs are included in the purchase.

What you need to do is go to system preferences (Apple Logo > System Preferences)

Then 'Users' and create a new user (say "user") Make sure you select that user as administrator

Once created, log out of the current user ( Apple logo > Log Out 'username')

Log back in as the new user you just created (Say "user")

Go back to System Preferences and Users and delete your old account. (account you don't require, but not your new one) Make sure you select delete home folder. By selecting the delete home folder will clear out all your old files you don't want.

Deleting is simple, just select the user and then the ' - ' (minus) at the bottom of the username window in 'users'

After you done that you should only have one user active, a home folder now cleared of any data.

If the new owner wants to recreate their own username, that can do the same thing.

I've had to do this a few times when buying used Mac's which don't come with a restore disk. I do agree with Ronda, I don't buy now any used Mac without the restore disk, however not everyone seems to keep them when they resale. ( Like they don't for PC laptops)
