Q: Audio problem in Final Cut Pro

Help! Whenever I import an audio file it comes out as a series of beeps in the timeline. When I scrub across it I can hear the true sound but it won't play. What's wrong?

Final Cut Pro 6, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    Hi

The file format on the Audio file is not corresponding with the type of project You set up in Easy-Set-up.

If You select the Audio Clip in TimeLine and then render Audio in selected clips

Skärmavbild 2012-06-05 kl. 18.33.42.png it will work.

I would rather convert the audio to same standard as Your project is set to e.g. .aiff 48kHz 16-bit audio.

Then it will work without all repeating renderings.

I Never use any .mp3 in any video-project iMovie - FinalCut Pro. I convert all to .aiff

    Yours Bengt W

Audio files need to be AIFF, stereo, 16-bit (aka 48Khz). Convert you audio to this before importing into Final Cut.  My guess is that you are importing MP3's ... you can render them in FCE/FCP as another responder noted but then you will be faced with re-rendering as you proceed with your editing.  It's best just to convert the audio before importing it into Final Cut.
