I cannot add bookmarks in Safari on my iPad2

I find a page I want to bookmark, select "add bookmark", select the appropriate place, and select "save". It looks like it works, but the bookmark does not appear in the folder I selected, or anywhere for that matter. Do i have to reinstall Safari?
