I am having a difficult time orienting my document (envelope) to print out sideways in printer. Can the document be rotated, or can I change the setting before printing it out? I can't fit my big envelopes in my printer lengthwise without them wrinkling. Thanks! Kellee

The paper orientation thing sure can be confusing. The way I think of it, the paper normally will go through your printer short side first. Then, if you want it to print so you can read it standing in front of the printer, the Page Setup orientation should be set to Portrait. If you want it to print so you can read it standing to the side of the printer, the orientation should be set to Landscape.
Now, I think you are asking how to set the orientation so that your print orientation is correct on the envelope if you feed it long side first. If so, use Portrait orientation and a custom paper size that has the long and short dimensions reversed.
Best to experiment with some plain paper before sticking an envelope in the printer. But, even before that you can select a low zoom magnification so that the entire envelope is shown while you are editing and see if it looks right.

I want to feed the envelope through the printer right side down (going in first). When I go to file--page setup--- and click on this orientation, it doesn't do anything to the text in the document; it just changes the shape. Does this make sense??? So....if I were to print the envelope this way (feeding the envelope right side down), the wording would be sideways on the envelope. Unfortunately, I can't fit the envelope in the printer the otherway, because it's too large. Thank you.

As I wrote above, if the resulting print is sideways, you are using Landscape orientation. If you want the print to be normal, not sideways, use Portrait orientation. And, make sure your paper size is set correctly for the way you are putting it into the printer.
