I was a bit concerned about following the advice of Megan-Jane to delete the networkinterfaces.plist file from my systemconfigurations folder. I just wasn't sure what other issues that might create on my machine, so I took my iMac in to the Apple Genius Bar to get their opinion.
They tried a few minor things they could think of with no success. I pointed them to this forum online, and they agreed that deleting the networkinterfaces.plist file could do the trick.
We tried it. It worked immediately, and there was no other side effects from deleting the file. I believe the machine just rebuilds the file without any of that saved configurations data once you reboot.
Thanks to Megan-Jane for posting the fix (at least the one that worked for me...)

Can someone please asisst from apple. I just got off phone with support and they were recommending that I deactivate my previous apple id
