Q: Delete from media folder while retaining it on itunes
Hello All,
So I have imported all my music from my HD to itunes without unchecking the import to media folder. I would like to delete it from my media on the imac whilst still retaining it on itunes. Advise so far given is delete completely from itunes therefore the media folder being deleted and then import again without importing to media folder.
Is there a way to delete the contents of the music folder?

I am not clear on what you have done. With iTunes there is the application. The application opens a database file which points to media files on a drive somewhere (and artwork files). The music isn't "in iTunes", it is in the media files to which the iTunes database points. If you delete a media file it causes a broken link in the database and you get a "cannot find file" message.
Now you just say "HD" which I interpret to mean hard drive, but I don't know if this is a drive in your computer or an external drive.
What were you doing? Were you trying to store your library on an external drive?
