ipad not staying connected on wifi

Hi all,

I am having trouble with my ipad staying connected via wifi. It is just dropping out and coming back on again. It has stopped recieving emails or updating showing the last was on 4/06/12 2 days ago.

I am not able to open anything connected to the web even when the ipad indicates it is connected

What could be the issue...do I need to take it to an Apple shop or is there something I can do? shoudl I restore the factory settings and if so how do i restore the apps books etc when they are not showing on my macbook. I downloaded the books etc to the ipad not the macbook pro?

Thanks for any help

Cheers

Deb

Deb,

You might try: power down the iPad, then restart, then soft reset by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears in the center of the screen and the iPad restarts again. If that does not maintain the connection, power down the router, unplug to make sure it is actually powered down and not in standby, and power down the modem if it is separate.

Then sequentially power up starting with the modem, if separate, then the router then the other devices on your network. After powering up the modem/router wait a few minutes for the equipment to reestablish the starting IP address and get the DHCP service initiated.

Then see if the iPad doesn't stay connected.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

It would seem there is a few peoblems out there with Wi-Fi. As mine too is not staying connected, you need to power off and reboot to regain, which is now starting to really annoy me. Infact I would say the problem is getting worse!

I have also tried several soft re-boots but still the issue is there. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!

Look out Braehead Store Glasgow I'm coming in.

after paying all this money for this thing you mean to tell me I have to re-adjust my router for this thing. Are you kidding me? If anything they should be giving me my money back knowing that there a problem and we have to wait like this but they have a mini ipad and new phone coming out, yeah right!! That is why when the galaxy note 10.1 comes out I will be switching over for sure...........
