how can we then send/receive emoticons to non iphone users since the built in emoji is not visible to others?

iPhone 4S, Windows 7

I think you're asking about emoji. Emoticons, on the other hand, are easily visible on any phone. You type them:

smile: :-)

wink: ;-)

grin: :-D

And so forth. Android phones will generally convert the emoticons to cute little pictures.

But what if I don't know how to type them all? Is there an app that allows me to send little smiley faces to other non iPad users?

ok thanks that can help indeed

but unless you learn them all by heart i don't see how it would really be effective.

it is surely not the most convenient thing to do when you are writing something on the go

😝 what about just a list of smileys inside the built in keyboard just like the one i just used to put the silly face

wouldn't this be much easier and user friendly

hum that will remain another thing from apple ios that i will never understand

such as the locked bluetooth, the sillyness of itunes interface, fllash content etc etc
