This has been a point of confusion/frustration for users since the iPad came out...photos placed on the iPad from iTunes can only be removed via iTunes. Photos saved from other sources directly can be deleted from the iPad. Once you get used to that, it is not a big problem, just takes getting used to the idea that there may be an extra step to deletion.

Glad it finally worked out for you.

Hi, I've just had the same problem this morning. I synced my photos with four folders of images on a USB. They were successfully transferred into four albums. I want to delete a few of the images in one of those albums. You say to "go into iTunes and delete the photo". Where do I do that? Sorry for the silly question, but on the 'Photos' tab, the images (or even a list of their filenames) don't appear anywhere. I just have the standard checkbox option saying "Sync photos from...". Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks...

TwoEggs, when you say you synced four folders on a USB, do you mean from a flash drive? The way most do this is using iTunes on a computer. You may have to open the flash drive on a computer and delete the images you want removed and then sync the drive and iPad again.

There are four particularly good knowledge bast articles that help explain image transfers and syncing for the iDevices: First, Second, Third, and Fourth. Each explains how to transfer material and delete material in the way Apple recommends. Other methods may work, such as what it sounds like you did, but full explanations of those other approaches are not given.
