Q: My itunes won't sync with my iphone

Hi I have a problem synchronizing itunes with my iphone... It actually rarely works...

In the last five days I was trying to sync but no luck. It finishes the step 1 and always stuck on step 2 (back up).

I have already unistalled and installed itunes three times (3rd time I 've erased everything in relation to itunes).

I'm out of ideas... Waiting for replies...

    Close your iTunes,

    Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    netsh winsock reset

    Hit "ENTER" key

    Restart your computer.

If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.

Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

The above solution is meant for Sync stuck at Step 2 - Backup.

As for you, there are many resaons for Sync not to complete., e,g, corrupted Apps, Photos, music etc.

Can you stopped the sync now?

Whilst your device still connected, go to iTunes menu, FILE, Transfer your Purchases from iPad.....

If you managed to transfer your Apps, try do the sync again.

Another possibility of the issue is, you may have some Apps on your iPad that were purchased through a different AppleID?

Try Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:

    1. hold down the Shift and Control key together and click to start iTunes.

    2. You will get a popup that says "iTunes is running in safe mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarily disabled.", click Continue to open iTunes.

You could already have your device connected to your computer or do it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.

Now press your sync button and see it works out OK this time.

    Lets try something here.

On you iPad, force close all the Apps in the multitask window.

Follow these steps to force an app to close:

    1. From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
    2. Tap and hold on the app.
    3. When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it one by one until all cleared

Now do a Soft reset of your iPad:

Hold both Home and Sleep button for around 10secs until you see the Apple logo then release. After it returns to Home screen, connect to sync and see if this resolves the issue.
