Q: Ipod docked to a music speaker system keeps switching to dock mode internal speaker does not work

Have tried restarting using home and power buttons, erase and restoring using itunes but when undocked the music plays for a few secs on internal speaker and then switches to docking mode and mutes. This is on a 2nd gen Itouch ..........Please HELP
