when i transfer an episode of a tv show from itunes library to my device, does it transfer it in hd and sd, or only in hd?

im trying to conserve space on my ipad, so i want to make sure that when i transfer my tv shows to ipad, it would be transfered in only one format, hd or sd

iOS 5.1.1

Depends on what you pick.

Default is hd copy.

You can switch it to sd version only when plugged into iTunes. On the summary screen, scroll down and check option for standard def.

It does not transfer both over, it's one or the other only.
