I get this error message in iTunes despite being connected to the Internet: You must be connected to the Internet in order to transfer a rented movie.

I am trying to transfer a rented movie to my ipod touch (version 4.2.1). I have verified I have the latest updates for iTunes and iPod. And I have verified that I have an active Internet connection. However, I cannot transfer a rented movie from iTunes to my ipod Touch. Any suggestions?
