Thanks Lisamhos! I haven't been able to get anything working on this phone.  It doesn't seem like it would work, based on the wording you would think it was taking photos from empty folder and putting on to your phone, but it doesn't...It does exactly what you need it to! thanks so much!

Outstanding. So once you slide the setting for "Photos & Camera" to OFF on your iPhone, just sync it with your Mac and voila--all photos are gone! Just make sure you've exported or otherwise saved the photos and videos you want to keep.

I did everything and I'm glad those two albums are gone however, I would have liked to have been able to save them on my computer first. Is there a way to reverse this? Or to find my pictures? Can I retreive them from this Photo Database that went into the New Folder?

    You Rock lisamhos!

It worked for me, only I used an empty folder and it totally allowed me to eliminate ALL the folders and photos : ) Thank you!

I went to Settings>Photos and Camera> and turned "my photo stream" to "off". there is also a setting for "shared photo stream". that is set to "on". i did a sync with only the photo folders from my computer i want synced to my iphone and it did NOT delete my Photo Libruary with 4700+ photos on it.

    Please advise.

    thanks.

So glad that earlier post is still helping some people. I'm learning more about Apple products the more I aquire...kinda frustrating after being a Windows user forever.

@mareynolds72- Your photo stream are pics that move to the cloud. If you have an ipad and an iphone, the same pics will be in both photo stream folders regardless of which device you took the pic with. Those can FINALLY be deleted individually by opening the photo stream, clicking edit, tapping on a pic, and then hitting the delete button. *HOWEVER* it WILL delete the pic FROM ALL DEVICES. If you are on a Windows computer that you have synced your device with, there is a photo stream folder that you can also manage those pics from there as well.

The shared photo stream is pics that you put in that folder and then have the option of emailing, etc with other people.

In your photo albums, the "Camera Roll" is the album where the pics that you've taken with that device only. You can finally delete individual pics here as well by doing the same thing as above.

If you want to delete the Photo Library in its entirety and are again on a Windows computer, I listed step by step directions at the begining of this thread quite awhile back that has seemed to work for many.

Others have also listed step by step directions for if you are using a Mac.

Hope one of these options helps!

Have you backed up to the cloud or to your actual computer? Another ~scarier~ option is to restore your phone to right before you deleted them, back up your phone to your computer and then try again.

So your fix worked except that my photos didnt show up in the "empty folder". when i try to open it theres a folder that says IiPod PhotoCache and when I open that I get something that says photo database. It wants me to select a program to open it which none of the ones I choose will open the photos. I really hope they're still there somewhere. Anyone have any idea on how to retrieve them?
