Q: is there a pc explorer way to view hdd on my mac?

I just bought my first mac. Is there an explorer view type of way to view my HDD?

macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Yes, it's called the Finder. Just double-click on any Desktop drive icon to open a Finder window on the drive and its hierarchy. You can configure each individual window you open by simply using the Finder's toolbar and COMMAND-J to open the Finder's View customization window.

Is the following what you are looking for?

Macintosh Explorer

If so, try to wean yourself off of such a thing and just use the finder.
