Try this... I had the same problem and this worked for me.

Go to your system preferences → network → make sure WI-FI selected → advanced → DNS tab. Add 8.8.8.8 to the DNS servers. Go back to FaceTime and try to verify your account again. Let me know if that works.

I have the same problem when i try to log on facetime or imessage. I tried everything and nothing worked. Please we need helps. I think a lot of people have this problem.

P.s today i,ve upgrade to ios 6 and nothing has changed.

None of this worked for me either. There must be a hidden file that is corrupt. I have deleted the app and the 2 plist files that the finder finds. Been struggling with this for nearly 2 weeks... HELP!!!!!
