Q: there is no printer list

there is no printer list shown:

system prefs/printer-scan / + / -> empty printer list

i wich to connect scanner epson 2480

it WAS connected before, later it dissappeared and now i cannot install it antmore

mac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

If you're now using Lion, your info says 10.5.8, you won't get a list anymore. Connect and power up your scanner and then add it in System Preferences. Once it is detected, you'll be prompted to download the drivers.

It is not solved yet. I have connected it, system prefs, print & scan, '+' , 'add printer window stays empty.

Well the Epson Perfection 2480 is on the list of supported scanners: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#epson

Verify that you have an Internet connection.

I have checked everything, of course internet is always on, (// with PC)
Like I said he was finctioning all the time until suddenly he disappeared
I even changed the connection cable
I only see one possibility that he is broken
I willconnect and test him on the PC
