all functions on my 27" iMac run slowly.

My iMac, running Lion 10.7.3, is slow to start, every program runs dead slow. Spinning beach ball dominates the screen. Updated, highly frustrating. Any help would be appreciated!

Also, where it states "you much choose a community" is Lion 10.7 not included??
