Why my ipad starts playing music on its own?
It mostly does it when I have the keyboard on top and slight pressure is applied. I have the smart cover on the ipad and the keyboard in a JAVOedge sleeve.

Yes. That happens. Turn the keyboard off. If that does not seem to do it, turn Bluetooth off.
There are a fair number of reports from folks where the pad starts playing music at the wrong time. Like on the subway, or in a meeting. And it is always tied to a bt keyboard paired with the pad.
It is a 'feature' that starts playing music when almost any key is touched. So turn it off.
Question, if you have the music app turned fully off ( double tap the home button to see the task bar, touch the music icon until it jiggles, then kill it fully by touching the minus sign), does it still happen?
I do not own a keyboard and I turned off the Bluetooth and yet this still is happening to me. For no reason the music starts playing on the iPad. I really wish this function can be disabled...any thoughts would be helpful.
Same thing happens to me too! Not only do I not have the music app open but I'm in a totally different, full-screen app which covers the music icon so there's no possibility of me accidentally touching it. Sure wish there was a "fix" for this disastor!
Yes, it still happens when the music app is killed in the background. I thought I was turning the keyboard off but now I realize I wan't holding the button until the green light went off. Now that I have done that, I now longer have a problem Thanks!
Glad you got it straightened out!
I have this issue too. I do not own a keyboard and Bluetooth is switched off. However, music randomly starts playing for no apparent reason on my iPad 2. Can anyone help with this?
Thanks
