Al go to iTunes>Preferences>Devoces and hover the mouse pointer over the iPod backup and the SN will pop up.

hi on the computer used to sync the ipod from itunes go to help tab hold the ctrl button and click on about itunes it will list itunes version and ipod sn number

it will also list ifone and pad sn if u have any of them but it shows device and number

How can you track them?

The serial number does not help you track a device at all.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! My sons 7yo's iPod touch was stolen out of our car after they broke our window to get to it. $$$ later my son knows better than leave his stuff in the car now. Very expensive lesson, but I want to get the person who did this, so now reporting the serial number to police. I really hope they find them. Thank you so much for the how to find the number.
