Unable to log on to YouTube via iPhone YouTube app.

I am able to log into YouTube on my computer, but not my iPhone's built-in YouTube app. I typed the username and password on my iPhone the exact same way I did my Mac, yet I cannot log on. What is the issue?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

To sign into this app on your mobile device : iPod touch, iPad or iPhone

Get your "Application Specific Password"

from your Google Account ( http://accounts.google.com ).

hopefully this video : http://youtu.be/W61rO8SdqaY

or the attached pics below clarifies this :

Step 1 - Click on Authorizing applications and sites

User uploaded file

Step 2 - Name it then Click on Generate Passwords

User uploaded file

Step 3 - When generated the Application Specific Password

is displayed inside the Yellow Frame ( as shown below )

User uploaded file

Finally go to the Youtube App on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

USERNAME : youtube username ( please note this username is associated with you Google Account )

PASSWORD : Application Specific Password

I tried to simplfy the process above from m.youtube.com :

I managed to sign in to youtube through the app. After approx. 25 tries

I really hope this helps.

Regards

The only thing I am aware of that can be preventing you from logging in to your YouTube account on your iPhone is possibly 2-Step Verification, check accounts.google.com, sign in and check your secuity settings. If 2-step verification is on, turning it off will fix this problem, otherwise use google's settings two create an application password for YouTube on your iPhone.

nategearl, try this. This worked for me. after setting up the 2-step verification like you did. make sure the 2-step is enabled and you have a application specific password.

Login to your google account on a browser. Then get into youtube link from there. Click upload and go through the process until you reach a page where it is ready to pull a video from your folders. You do not have to really upload any video. Now go to the youtube app on iPhone and type the application specific password. you will sign in.

It worked for me.

i've try to upgrade firmware many times with ethernet cable with sistematic errors.

access to you tube with usual password and with "double check security" (using application password) without success...

wasting a lot of time.

googled for some suggestion then...

upgraded firmware with wi-fi connection (5.2 _ 6010.96 and OS 6.1_10B144b)

and access to youtube profile with app password ( i don't know if it works due to wi-fi or not)

please help. I did this once before and it took 2 hours before accepting any one of the application specific passwords, then a week goes by and the app just randomly logs me out so now i'm trying to sign back in with a whole new application specific password and it keeps telling me authentication failed! I even went through the trouble of creating a new youtube account to see if that would work.. i got nothing. Help!
