Xsan without a FC switch?
Was looking at one of the Promise drives which comes with 4 8GBs ports and was curious if I could hook up 3 workstations + 1MDC to the drive without using a FC switch? Of course we would still have a gigabit switch for MD.
I did that once with an E610 VTrak and two Macs. It worked. With a newer E630, I don't see why you couldn't connect four Macs, each with one connection to each controller.
Now this really crazy talk: you might even be able to connect eight Macs to an E630 if it has ALUA enabled and all the Macs are running 10.7. I have not tried that, though.
