Apple TVAssuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
- You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
- Also try restarting the router.
- If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If this is a new Apple TV, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

Jun 8, 2012 5:26 AM in response to Ron Stanford1by Ron Stanford1,I solved it. I clicked on the menu button on the Apple TV remote and I saw that the time zone setting had somehow spontaneously changed to Pacific Time, while I live on the East Coast.
Everything works now.

Jun 8, 2012 9:35 AM in response to Ron Stanford1by Slokh,Sorry to threadjack but the symptoms fit.
I'd appreciate an opinion on this. I am running ATV2. Everything in my house is GB cabled. All routers and switches are running the correct time, obtained from the router. I have two reserved IP addresses for the ATV, one for the wireless and one for the cabled mac address. I have manually opened all the ports that are mentioned in any thread in the forum. I have tried changing the DNS server, at present I have it set to Google's.
I have disconnected, reset, unplugged the thing ad nauseam. I have also tried shouting at it. This didn't have the desired effect.
The exasperating thing is that occasionally I get the time - sometimes. For instance I once got it by disconnecting the cable and letting it go wireless.
Another time, it got the time when I changed the IP address. I have even tried the HDMI thing that is recommended somewhere.
The only consistent result is that I never know what will work, and most things don't. Not repeatedly anyway.
Any innovative approach would be appreciated.
